Good morning Mississauga,
If you were looking for a weekend that feels like summer in the city, this is it.
The World Cup final is bringing a crowd to Celebration Square, a full day of Bhangra music and dance is taking over the weekend, and Streetsville has a salsa night if you’re in the mood to move.
We’ve also got a few good food spots to check out, plus local updates that are worth knowing before the weekend starts.
Let’s get into it!
This Week’s Local Feature
ExcellCare

Caring for an aging parent often starts small: meals, appointments, errands, or a few extra check-ins. Then, slowly, it can become a lot for one family to manage.
That is where ExcellCare comes in.
ExcellCare is a boutique private home healthcare agency serving Mississauga and surrounding communities. Every care plan begins with a complimentary in-home assessment, where the team learns about the client’s health, routines, preferences, and the family’s concerns.
You do not need to know exactly what care is needed before reaching out.
Support can start with a few hours each week and grow to daily or around-the-clock care as needs change. That may include companionship, personal care, post-hospital support, dementia care, or help with daily living.
Caregivers are carefully matched based on professional skills, personality, and compatibility, helping create comfort, consistency, and trust at home.
A little extra support can help your loved one stay independent and give your family room to breathe.
No obligation. Just a chance to understand the options.

The World Cup final lands on the big screens at Celebration Square this Sunday.
If you’ve been watching at home all tournament, this is the match to see with a crowd. Bring a jersey, meet friends there, and let the Square do what it does best: turn a game into a city moment.
Even casual soccer fans can get into this one. It’s the final, the screens are big, and every goal will feel louder outside.
RED FM Summer Bhangra Jam
📅 Saturday, July 18 | 📍 Mississauga Celebration Square
Saturday brings a full day of South Asian music, Bhangra, live performances, and festival energy to Celebration Square.

Salsa In The Square
📅 Saturday, July 25 - Saturday, August 29 | 📍 Streetsville Village Square
Streetsville gets a salsa night on select Saturdays, which is exactly the kind of summer plan that sounds better than sitting inside.
Go if you want music, movement, and a fun reason to get out after dinner. You don’t need to be an expert dancer to enjoy it. Half the fun is watching the Square loosen up once the music starts.
Weaving with the Unseen: Roots, Weeds & Gathered Materials
📅 Saturday, July 18 | 📍 Art Gallery of Mississauga
This is a hands-on art workshop for anyone who likes making something instead of just looking at it.
You’ll work with foraged and found materials, learn simple weaving and braiding techniques, and leave with a small woven piece. It’s calm, creative, and a nice way to spend a Saturday afternoon indoors if the heat is too much.
This is a popular one so be sure to hop on the waitlist in case a spot frees up.
Learn to Fish
📅 Friday, July 17 to Sunday, July 19 | 📍 Lakefront Promenade
Never tried fishing before? This free program gives you everything you need to learn without buying equipment or figuring it out alone.
The first hour covers the basics, followed by supervised fishing along the lake. Rods and other equipment are provided, so you just need to register, show up, and bring some sun protection.
It’s a good family pick if you want to spend time by the water and try something more hands-on than another festival or market.

This Week’s Best Eats
Fusion Flo

📍 3525 Platinum Dr Unit 106 & 107
Fusion Flo is the kind of spot to keep in mind when you want something casual, flavourful, and a little more interesting than the usual dinner plan.
The menu leans into fusion comfort food, with dishes like Nashville hot sliders, butter chicken tacos, and Bihari kebab pizza. It works for a quick lunch, an easy takeout order, or a low-key meal with friends when nobody wants to overthink it.
It’s a good pick when you want something relaxed, filling, and easy to say yes to on a weeknight.
Szechuan Noodle Bowl
📍 400 Dundas St E
Szechuan Noodle Bowl is the kind of place to keep in mind when you want a proper bowl of noodles, dumplings, and heat that wakes you up.
The move here is Sichuan-style comfort food: dan dan noodles, braised beef noodles with bamboo shoots, handmade beef noodles, and boiled dumplings in chili oil. The noodles are chewy, the bowls are filling, and the spice can be adjusted if you don’t want to go all-in.
It’s best for a casual lunch, a simple dinner, or a takeout order that feels more rewarding than another basic fast-food run.
The Park
📍 1107 Lorne Park Rd
The Park is a Lorne Park dinner spot for the nights when you want something a bit nicer.
The menu leans steakhouse and modern bistro, with dishes like French onion soup, steak tartare, tuna tartare, grilled octopus, handmade pasta, roasted chicken, seafood, and steaks. It’s a good call for a birthday dinner, parents’ night out, or a proper sit-down meal where you want the room to feel relaxed but still special.
If your group usually ends up driving out of Mississauga for a nicer dinner, this is one to keep on the local list.

Bonnie Crombie Is Officially Back In The Mayor’s Race
Former mayor Bonnie Crombie has officially entered the race for Mississauga mayor.
That means this fall’s election now has a very familiar name challenging current mayor Carolyn Parrish. Even if you don’t follow city politics closely, this race will shape a lot of big local decisions around housing, taxes, roads, transit, development, and what downtown becomes next.
Election day is Monday, October 26.
Parking Tickets Are Getting A Process Change
Mississauga is changing how some parking penalty notices are handled.
The useful part for drivers: the city is extending the time people have to pay or request a review, and some notices can now be mailed instead of only placed on a vehicle. The parking rules and penalty amounts are not the main change here. It’s more about how tickets are issued and how much time drivers have to respond.
If you’ve ever had to deal with a parking ticket, this is one to know before it affects you.

The goal is simple: make it easier to know what's happening around Mississauga and prove our city is more interesting than people think.
