Good morning Mississauga,

This week’s list has a few plans to book early, a holiday market worth saving, and some food and retail news around Square One and Streetsville. Vero Italian Sandwich Co. has opened at Square One, Tribeca Coffee Co. is on the way to Streetsville, and the Mississauga Holiday Makers Show is one to keep on your calendar.

Let's get into it!

This Week's Local Feature

Carick Home Improvements

Thinking About Renovating This Winter? The Best Renovations Start Long Before Demolition Day.

There’s probably a room in your house you already know you’d change.

The kitchen that feels too closed in.

The bathroom that has looked dated for a decade.

The basement with more potential than purpose.

And every so often, you look at it and think:

“We really should do something about this.”

Then life gets busy, the project feels overwhelming, and another year goes by.

If this winter is finally when you want to make a change, planning now doesn’t mean committing to construction tomorrow.

It means starting to figure out what you actually want.

What should change?

What should stay?

What materials need to be chosen or ordered ahead of time?

And how can everything be planned so the finished space works the way you pictured it?

That’s a big part of how Carick Home Improvements approaches renovations.

Carick has been renovating homes since 1979, and many customers have returned for second, third and even fourth projects.

You don’t need to have every detail figured out today.

Sometimes the first step is simply seeing what’s possible.

The Sauga Box Office

DOC Wine Imports Annual Portfolio Tasting

📅 Thursday, November 5 | 📍 Renaissance by the Creek

A 19+ tasting night with more than 50 wines, live music, Portuguese olive oils, specialty products, and event-only offers. It is a social pick for anyone who wants a grown-up plan before the weekend starts.

Why save it: Space is limited, and the ticket includes three hours of tasting, so it is better to book before Thursday night.

Film Music Gala

📅 Saturday, November 7 | 📍 The Living Arts Centre

Celebrity Symphony Orchestra, a combined choir, and guest soloists take on big-screen music from films like Titanic, The Godfather, James Bond, Gladiator, The Lion King, and more, with large-screen film projections.

Why save it: It is a one night concert with orchestra, choir, soloists, and film visuals, so waiting could mean weaker seats.

MSYO: The Art Of The Symphony

📅 Sunday, November 8 | 📍 The Living Arts Centre

Mississauga Symphony Youth Orchestra takes on Schubert, Haydn, Brahms, and the finale of Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 5 at the Living Arts Centre.

It is a Sunday afternoon classical concert with local young musicians, family pricing, and weekend parking included at the venue.

Why save it: Afternoon symphony concerts in Mississauga are not common, and this one is easy to plan around for families, music students, and classical fans.

Laughs And First Impressions

📅 Thursday, November 5 | 📍 Bar SoHo

A singles comedy social in Port Credit for ages 35 to 49, with three comedians, interactive games, mingling time, and one drink included with the ticket.

Why save it: It is small and designed around mingling, so booking ahead matters more than showing up cold.

Women Who Lift

What If the Scale Isn't Telling You the Whole Story?

There's no shortage of advice telling women how to lose weight.

But the scale can miss some of the most important changes happening in your body.

Building muscle. Becoming stronger. Discovering what your body is actually capable of.

Because getting healthier isn't always about becoming smaller. Sometimes, it's about becoming stronger.

And that changes a lot more than how you look.

Stronger muscles can make everyday tasks easier, help you stay active as you get older, and give you more confidence in your body.

The challenge can be knowing where to start.

And sometimes, all you need is someone who believes in what you're capable of and knows how to help you get there.

That's what Women Who Lift is all about.

Their eight-week beginner program takes the guesswork out of getting started.

With over 15 years of experience training women, their coaches help you learn the fundamentals, one step at a time. And classes are capped at just eight women, so your coach can watch your form, answer your questions and help you get comfortable with each exercise.

You might be surprised by what your body can do when you give it the chance.

The next Mississauga beginner program starts November 16.

Mine & Yours Opens At Holt Renfrew Square One

Luxury resale shop Mine & Yours is now open inside Holt Renfrew at Square One. The pop-up carries pre-owned designer handbags, apparel and accessories, and the brand says it is its first Ontario pop-up with Holt Renfrew.
