Good morning Mississauga,

Here’s your Mississauga list for the week: plans to book, local finds to save, and a few openings to watch.

Square One has a retail shakeup on the way, with a fall market giving shoppers another reason to browse. There’s also a Simon & Garfunkel tribute for anyone looking for a calmer night out, plus a new paint night spot preparing to open in Mississauga.

Let's get into it!

This Week's Local Feature

Carick Home Improvements

Thinking About Renovating This Winter? The Best Renovations Start Long Before Demolition Day.

There’s probably a room in your house you already know you’d change.

The kitchen that feels too closed in.

The bathroom that has looked dated for a decade.

The basement with more potential than purpose.

And every so often, you look at it and think:

“We really should do something about this.”

Then life gets busy, the project feels overwhelming, and another year goes by.

If this winter is finally when you want to make a change, planning now doesn’t mean committing to construction tomorrow.

It means starting to figure out what you actually want.

What should change?

What should stay?

What materials need to be chosen or ordered ahead of time?

And how can everything be planned so the finished space works the way you pictured it?

That’s a big part of how Carick Home Improvements approaches renovations.

Carick has been renovating homes since 1979, and many customers have returned for second, third and even fourth projects.

You don’t need to have every detail figured out today.

Sometimes the first step is simply seeing what’s possible.

The Sauga Box Office

Old Friends: The Songs Of Simon & Garfunkel

📅 Saturday, October 10 | 📍 Meadowvale Theatre

A tribute show built around the harmonies, guitar work, and familiar songs of Simon & Garfunkel, including Mrs. Robinson, The Sound of Silence, Homeward Bound, Cecilia, and more.

Why save it: It has the widest appeal of the week for a low-effort Saturday night plan, and Meadowvale Theatre is a smaller room than the big arena stops.

Kahaani Cafe: Table #7

📅 Saturday, October 10 | 📍 Studio Theatre, the Living Arts Centre

ArtsyCulture Society brings back its cafe-style stage production with live theatre, storytelling, music, and a live band. The show is performed in English, Hindi, and Urdu, with a story built around memory, home, and life between cultures.

Why save it: It is a one-night local stage show with a more intimate feel than a standard concert, so it is better to book before the weekend.

REEL Thursdays: H Is For Hawk

📅 Thursday, October 8 | 📍 Screening Room, the Living Arts Centre

The saugaLIVE film series continues with H Is for Hawk, shown in partnership with TIFF Film Circuit. The film follows a woman working through grief after her father’s death, with nature and falconry at the centre of the story.

Why save it: It is a quiet weeknight arts pick for film lovers who want something more thoughtful than a regular movie night.

Sauga Spotlight

Women Who Lift

Strong looks good at every age.

We keep adding to our to-do list, but how much of it actually gets started or completed? Especially the things that really matter.

As the years go by, keeping your muscles and bones strong matters more than ever. Strength training helps you stay active, move well, build muscle, and feel more confident in your body.

But knowing weights are good for you and walking into a weight room full of unfamiliar equipment are two very different things.

Where do you start? Which exercises should you do? Is your form right? How heavy should you lift?

Women Who Lift takes the guesswork out of it.

Backed by over 15 years of experience training women, their 8-week beginner program is for women who want to get stronger but don't know where to start. Classes are capped at just eight women, so your coach can watch your form, answer your questions and help you get comfortable with each exercise.

As the weeks go on, the equipment starts to feel familiar. You know what you're doing, you feel more comfortable in the weight room, and you start to see just how strong your body can become.

The next 8-week beginner program starts November 16. With only eight spots in each class and programs tending to fill quickly, booking early is recommended.

If getting stronger has been sitting on your to-do list, this is your sign to finally start.

Local Finds

Best Easy Stop:

Fall Market At Square One

📅 Thursday, October 8 to Sunday, October 11 | 📍 Square One Shopping Centre

The Trending Table is bringing a pop-up market to Square One during mall hours, with local small businesses set up inside one of the city’s busiest shopping spots. Expect an easy browse for gifts, accessories, home goods, and small-batch finds while you are already near City Centre.

Best Cultural Browse:

Toronto Kalibari Sarvajanik Durga Puja

📅 Thursday, October 15 to Tuesday, October 20 | 📍 Toronto Kalibari

The festive mela is the Local Finds angle here, with food stalls, shopping vendors and a busy community setup running alongside Toronto Kalibari’s Durga Puja celebrations in Mississauga.

Good for anyone who wants to browse, eat and take in the festival atmosphere across a few days, instead of trying to squeeze it into one short visit.

Best Collectibles Browse:

Mississauga Cards & Collectibles Show

📅 Saturday, October 24 | 📍 Eden United Church

A free collectibles show with more than 50 vendors selling Pokémon cards, sports cards, comics, Funko Pops and other collector items.

Good for families, card collectors, and anyone hunting for a small gift. Kids can get free Pokémon cards while supplies last, and there will be hourly giveaways throughout the show.

New & Notable

Square One Is Getting A Big Retail Shuffle

Square One is going through another major tenant wave. Tiffany & Co. is preparing a standalone boutique, Rolex is expanding into a larger space, SUPER MINISO is set to open October 10, and LEGO, POP MART, and Flying Tiger Copenhagen are also listed as coming or under construction.

Why it matters: It shows Square One leaning harder into both luxury shopping and collector-friendly stores, which gives locals more reasons to visit beyond a basic mall run.

Pinot’s Palette Is Preparing To Open In Mississauga

Pinot’s Palette says its Mississauga studio is expected to open early this month at 5030 Satellite Drive. The paint and sip studio is still sending people to its grand opening page, with classes and private events likely to follow once the space opens.

Why it matters: It gives Mississauga another easy night-out, especially for date nights, birthdays, team outings, and friend groups that want something planned instead of just dinner.

The Lakeshore Art Trail is looking for volunteers for its 25th anniversary art show and sale.
