Good morning Mississauga,

Mississauga has a full fall week ahead, with Diwali celebrations, Halloween plans, live jazz, and a few easy ways to get outside before the month ends.

The biggest draws are RED FM Diwali Dhamaka and Creepy Cawthra Boo Bash, but there are quieter options too: a scarecrow hunt, tree planting, and StoryWalk trails in four parks.

There are also local updates to know, including MiWay service changes starting October 26, a Startup Canada Tour stop coming to Mississauga, cycling award nominations, and a Music 311 submission call for Mississauga musicians.

Let's get into it!

Top Picks This Week

Creepy Cawthra Boo Bash

This is the big family Halloween stop of the weekend. The historic estate is turning into a daytime Halloween outing with a creepy room walk, games, crafts, face painting, a scavenger hunt, Reptilia meet and greet, craft market, hot chocolate and family pumpkin carving.

It runs rain or shine from noon to 4 p.m. both days, so it’s a solid choice if you want costumes, kid-friendly activities and a fall plan that does not need a full day.

RED FM Diwali Dhamaka

📅 Saturday, October 24 | 📍 Mississauga Convention Centre

This free Diwali celebration brings live performances, food, festive shopping, a kids zone and family activities to Mississauga Convention Centre from noon to 8 p.m.

It’s a good indoor option if you want a busy, colourful Saturday plan with lots to browse and no entry fee.

the joshis

📅 Thursday, October 22 to Sunday, October 25 | 📍 AN1 Studios

SAWITRI Theatre Group and Very Serious Theatre Company are staging a contemporary Canadian play about a family gathered during the season of lights. The celebration is at its peak when one turn changes the night.

Fall #INThePort & The Great Scarecrow Hunt

📅 Saturday, October 24 | 📍 Brant Avenue, Port Credit

Brant Avenue gets a fall takeover with live entertainment, crafts, face painting and farm animal visits, including goats, sheep, rabbits, a mini horse, a donkey, an alpaca and a unicorn. The main event runs 12 to 4 p.m., with animal visits listed from 12 to 3 p.m.

The extra hook is the scarecrow hunt through Port Credit businesses. Pick up a map at the Port Credit BIA tent, look for scarecrows in storefront windows, then submit your entry for a chance to win a family prize pack.

This Week's Best Eats

Little South Bistro & Grill

📍 5165 Dixie Rd

Little South is a Kerala and South Indian restaurant on Dixie Road. The menu is built around rice meals, biryani, dosas, seafood, meat curries and vegetarian dishes, so it works well when everyone at the table wants something different.

Start with chatti choru, a Kerala rice meal served with curries and sides, or try the kizhi biryani, which comes wrapped in banana leaf. The seafood thali, beef or goat biryani, porotta with curry and crisp dosas are all good reasons to go with a group and order more than one plate.

Karak Stuffed Naan & Chai Cafe

📍 10 Kingsbridge Garden Cir

Karak is a halal Pakistani cafe built around stuffed naans and chai. The main draw is the naan menu, with options like butter chicken, chicken malai, dum keema, tandoori chicken, saucy chana masala, paneer makhani and spiced potato.

It’s a good stop when you want something filling but still easy to share. Pair a stuffed naan with saffron karak chai, Kashmiri chai, mango lassi or gulab jamun ice cream if you’re making it a fuller meal.

Union Social Eatery

📍 5042 Satellite Dr, Unit F1

Union Social is a casual dinner spot near the airport side of Mississauga, with a wide pub-style menu that works well when the table wants options. Look for parmesan truffle fries, house braised sirloin firecrackers, nachitos, burgers, bowls, sandwiches and full mains.

Go for a relaxed sit-down meal with coworkers, friends or family, especially if you want share plates, comfort food and familiar mains in one place. It’s an easy choice near the 401 when you want dinner that can suit a few different cravings.

What's New in Sauga

MiWay Service Changes Start October 26

MiWay is changing schedules on several routes starting Monday, October 26, including busy corridors like Hurontario, Dixie, Rathburn, Lakeshore and Eglinton.

The update affects routes 2 Hurontario, 5 Dixie, 17 Hurontario, 20 Rathburn, 23 Lakeshore, 35 Eglinton, 103 Hurontario Express and 135 Eglinton Express. Holiday service changes are also set to begin December 21.

Why it matters: A small schedule change can mean a missed bus, a longer wait or a tighter transfer. If you use MiWay for work, school, appointments or weekend plans, check your route before Monday.

Startup Canada Tour Is Coming To Mississauga

Mississauga is one of only three Canadian stops on the 2026 Startup Canada Tour, with the event landing at the Living Arts Centre on Thursday, October 29. The day includes speakers, panels, workshops, mentor sessions and a pitch competition with cash prizes.

Why it matters: Founders, side-hustle owners, students and small business operators can meet mentors, hear from speakers and make local business connections in Mississauga instead of travelling into Toronto.

Cycling Award Nominations Are Open

The Mississauga Cycling Advisory Committee is accepting nominations for four cycling awards. The categories recognize residents, groups, businesses and students who helped make cycling safer, more welcoming or easier to access in Mississauga.

Why it matters: If you know someone who leads rides, helps students bike safely, improves access or supports active transportation, nominations are open until January 8, 2027.

Mississauga Musicians Can Submit To Music 311

Mississauga is looking for 12 songs from local musicians for its Music 311 playlist. Selected artists receive $300, and the songs may be played on 311 hold lines, City Council livestreams, MiWay customer information lines and other city channels.

Why it matters: If you make music in Mississauga, this is a paid local exposure chance with city-backed reach. The deadline to apply is November 1 at 11:59 p.m.

StoryWalk Trails Are Now In Four Parks

Mississauga Library and the city have added StoryWalk trails at J.C. Saddington Park, Malton Greenway, Lake Aquitaine Park and Mississauga Valley. Each trail posts pages from a children’s book along the walking path, so families can read as they move through the park.

Why it matters: It gives families a free, year-round reason to visit a local park, especially on days when you want something simple, outdoors and low-cost.

Thanks For Reading

The goal is simple: make it easier to know what's happening around Mississauga and prove our city is more interesting than people think.

See you Tuesday!
