Good morning Mississauga,

This week’s list is for plans that are easier to make before the weekend fills up: a Hotel California night out, a big Mississauga Comic Expo day, and the Port Credit Christmas Market to save before holiday calendars get busy.

There’s also food news, with Tandoori Boys now at two Mississauga locations, plus local offers and Halloween plans that are better to sort out early than leave for the last minute.

Let's get into it!

This Week's Local Feature

Carick Home Improvements

The Most Impressive Part of This Renovation Isn't in the Photos.

There's something special about a home you've lived in for years.

You know the street. You love the neighbourhood. You've made a lifetime of memories there.

But that doesn't mean you wouldn't change a few things.

Or maybe a lot of things.

These photos show the same house, before and after a major renovation by Carick Home Improvements.

But the most interesting part might be what you can't see.

Because seeing a home transformed like this is exciting. But trusting a contractor with your own home is a big decision.

Here's what the client had to say about the experience:

“Throughout the entire process, Carick Home Improvements demonstrated exceptional accountability, maintaining open and transparent communication while fostering positive relationships with all parties involved. Their ability to stay organized and adaptable, even when faced with challenges, ensured that the project was completed to the highest standards and within budget.

Without hesitation, I wholeheartedly recommend Carick Home Improvements as a responsible, detail-oriented, and visionary contractor who takes great pride in their work. Their professionalism and dedication to excellence are truly refreshing.”

Carick has been renovating homes since 1979, with clients returning for second, third and even fourth projects.

And your renovation doesn't have to be as dramatic as this one.

Maybe it's a kitchen you've been meaning to redo, or a basement that could be so much more.

You don't need every detail figured out yet. Sometimes, seeing what's possible is the best place to start.

The Sauga Box Office

Hotel California

📅 Friday, October 23 | 📍 The Living Arts Centre

The long-running Eagles tribute brings a full concert show to the Living Arts Centre, with the harmonies, guitars and classic rock hits fans know.

Why save it: It is the widest-appeal night out on the calendar this week, and Friday tickets are easier to sort out before the weekend rush.

She Carries The Song

📅 Thursday, October 22 | 📍 Studio Theatre LAC

Celeigh Cardinal, Mimi O’Bonsawin and Lacey Hill bring an intimate night of Indigenous song, story and voice to the Studio Theatre.

Why save it: The show has been moved into a smaller room, so it should feel more close-up than a standard concert hall night.

Solidaridad Tango

📅 Friday, October 23 | 📍 Unitarian Congregation of Mississauga

The Chamber Music Society of Mississauga brings Solidaridad Tango to town for a pay-what-you-can night of live tango, with guest bandoneonist Eva Wolff and dancers Tarek Marroushi and Estie Spivakov.

Why save it: The pay-what-you-can setup makes this an easy culture night to book if you want live music, dance and a lower-cost local plan.

Women Who Lift

What If the Scale Isn't Telling You the Whole Story?

There's no shortage of advice telling women how to lose weight.

But the scale can miss some of the most important changes happening in your body.

Building muscle. Becoming stronger. Discovering what your body is actually capable of.

Because getting healthier isn't always about becoming smaller. Sometimes, it's about becoming stronger.

And that changes a lot more than how you look.

Stronger muscles can make everyday tasks easier, help you stay active as you get older, and give you more confidence in your body.

The challenge can be knowing where to start.

And sometimes, all you need is someone who believes in what you're capable of and knows how to help you get there.

That's what Women Who Lift is all about.

Their eight-week beginner program takes the guesswork out of getting started.

With over 15 years of experience training women, their coaches help you learn the fundamentals, one step at a time. And classes are capped at just eight women, so your coach can watch your form, answer your questions and help you get comfortable with each exercise.

You might be surprised by what your body can do when you give it the chance.

The next Mississauga beginner program starts November 16.
