Bombardier and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries have signed a deal for Bombardier to acquire the assets of MHI Canada Aerospace in Mississauga, pending approvals and closing conditions. The local operation works on aerostructures, which are key aircraft parts and assemblies.

The deal would move about 750 MHICA employees into Bombardier and keep the Mississauga team tied to aircraft manufacturing work.

Why it matters: This is a large local jobs story. Mississauga is already a key aerospace hub, and this deal would keep skilled manufacturing work in the city while adding capacity for Bombardier aircraft programs.

After the city’s shelter hit dog capacity in August, Mississauga Animal Services says 53 animals were adopted, fostered or transferred during its Homeward Bound push.

The total includes 18 dogs, 22 cats, 7 rabbits, 5 birds and 1 python. The city says some long-term shelter residents waiting since 2023 were among the animals helped.
