Tonight’s outdoor movie at Celebration Square is The SpongeBob Movie: Search for Squarepants. The pre-show starts at 7:30 p.m., the movie starts at 8 p.m., and the night also includes Sheridan College short films before the main feature.

Repair Hub

The City’s Repair Hub is at Malton Library from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Residents can bring broken household items for volunteer fixers to assess, repair where possible, or offer advice on next steps.
The event accepts common small items such as lamps, simple electronics, clothing, small appliances, and other household goods. Repairs are not guaranteed.
Toni Anderson & Friends
📅 Sunday, August 16 | 📍 Port Credit Memorial Park
Toni Anderson & Friends close out the weekend with a free 6:30 p.m. concert in Port Credit Memorial Park. Anderson’s sound brings together gospel, jazz, R&B, neo soul, funk, and Caribbean influence.
This is the low-effort outdoor plan of the week: bring a chair, head down by the water, and make it a relaxed Sunday evening.

Mississauga Fine Arts Academy
Rock into the new school year with Mississauga Fine Arts Academy.
As summer winds down, music lessons can add confidence, creativity, focus, and discipline to your child’s routine, all through a fun and rewarding extracurricular activity.
For September, new students who register for lessons receive a free $75 Back-to-School Supplies Pack, free registration valued at $25, a $25 retail certificate for music books and supplies, and a Mississauga Fine Arts Academy tote bag.

QEW Work Near Credit River Is Getting Local Attention
Drivers are asking why the QEW stretch between Mississauga Road and Hurontario still feels unfinished. Local discussion this week points to bridge and road work, plus an archaeological assessment that has delayed some work around the project area.
Why it matters: If you use the QEW through south Mississauga, expect the confusion and slowdowns to stay part of the drive while the road, bridge, trail, and pedestrian pieces are sorted out.
City Warns About Fake Event Listings
Mississauga says two Eventbrite listings for the International Conference on Leadership, Innovation, Global Investment, & Professional Development falsely claimed to be connected to the City. The listings also said the events would run at Malton Community Centre from August 31 to September 2 and on November 30.
The City says it is not affiliated with the events, there is no booking at any City facility, and the promotions used the City’s name and branding without permission.
Why it matters: It’s a reminder to double-check event details before paying or registering, especially when a listing claims a City partnership or names a local community centre.
Mobile Food Vendors Can Keep Operating In City Parks
Mississauga’s mobile food business pilot has been extended until April 30, 2027. Licensed food trucks, carts, and refreshment vehicles can use approved park and on-street locations, with some blackout dates when special events are booked.
Why it matters: This gives residents more chances to find food near parks, and it gives small food businesses another way to serve people outside the usual plaza or restaurant setup.
Mississauga Election Nominations Close Next Week
Candidate nominations for Mississauga’s municipal election close Friday, August 21 at 2 p.m. Election day is Monday, October 26, so the final candidate list is about to become much clearer.
Why it matters: This is the last real window for new names to enter the race. After the deadline, residents can start comparing who’s running before ballots are cast this fall.
