Good morning Mississauga,
It’s a very Mississauga week: one part fall outing, one part browsing, one part civic catch-up. If you’ve been waiting for a simple reason to get out, the Toronto Rock N' Gem Show and Halloween Harvest Festival give you two very different ones.
There are also a few local updates to know before the weekend. Fall colours are coming back across Mississauga parks, natural ice rink volunteers are needed, advance polls set a new record, and the Bloor Street redesign remains paused.
Let's get into it!
This Week's Local Feature
ExcellCare
A little help can give you a lot more freedom.

Being able to do everything yourself doesn’t mean you have to spend your time doing all of it.
Groceries. Making meals. Driving to appointments. Running errands. Keeping up with the little things around the house.
You may be perfectly capable of doing every one of them.
But that doesn’t mean they all deserve your time.
A few hours of support can mean more time for lunch with a friend, getting outside, seeing family, enjoying a hobby, or simply having an afternoon that is yours again.
That is where ExcellCare can help.
ExcellCare can take care of the things you would rather hand off, from meals and errands to transportation, appointments, and light housekeeping.
You stay in control. You decide what you want help with, how often you want it, and what you would rather continue doing yourself.
It might be a few hours a week or something more regular. There is no need to make a major change all at once. The support is built around your life, not the other way around.
This isn’t about giving up your independence. It’s about having more freedom to spend your time the way you want.
Start with a complimentary, no-obligation consultation.

This Week's Best Eats
Border MX Mexican Grill

📍 277 Queen St S
This Streetsville Mexican spot works well for tacos, snacks and share plates. Start with chips and guacamole, street corn, bean taquitos or melted cheese with chorizo, then go into soft corn tacos like al pastor, birria, baja fish or crispy cauliflower. The cochinita pibil taco is a good choice if you like slow-cooked pork with citrus, spice and a little tang.
If you want a bigger plate, look at the alambre de pastor with grilled pork, pineapple, peppers and melted cheese, the enchiladas with green or red sauce, or the volcano for two with steak, chicken, chorizo, peppers, guacamole, rice, beans and tortillas. For dessert, churros are the easy choice, while choco flan gives you chocolate cake and creamy flan in one slice.
Dana Kabob
📍 3700 Eglinton Ave W, Unit 62
Dana Kabob is a Persian spot near Erin Mills centred on grilled kabobs, saffron rice and slow-cooked stews. A good first order is the koobideh, with seasoned ground beef skewers, rice, tomato and onion, or the Vaziri plate if you want koobideh with marinated chicken.
For something heartier, look at the baghali polo with lamb shank, a dill and fava bean rice dish served with tender lamb, or gheimeh, a tomato-based stew with split peas and beef. The menu also has lamb chops, ghormeh sabzi, an herb stew with beef, kidney beans and dry lime, plus family packages for an easy takeout dinner for a few people.
Saucy Restaurant
📍 111 Queen St S
Saucy is a Streetsville dinner spot with a wide menu that works well for a table that wants choices. Start with the Brie Skillet, PEI mussels, coconut shrimp or beet bruschetta if you’re sharing a few plates first.
For mains, the lamb shank, lobster mac and cheese, seafood spaghettini and steak frites give you a lot of room. The black truffle sacchetti is a richer pasta option, with small stuffed pasta parcels served in a truffle sauce. It’s best for a sit-down meal when you want more than a quick bite.
Rick's Good Eats
📍 6660 Kennedy Rd #1
Rick's Good Eats does Punjabi Canadian comfort food with a big menu of burgers, naanwiches, bowls, loaded fries and mac and cheese. Go for the butter chicken mac, butter chicken loaded fries, Rick's fried chicken sandwich, shahi paneer naanwich, made with paneer cheese in a rich creamy curry sauce, or samosa chaat, a snack-style plate with samosas, chickpeas, yogurt and chutneys.
It's a good stop when you want takeout that feels more fun than a standard burger run, but still has familiar choices for a group. The menu also has vegetarian options like the dosa burger, a burger inspired by dosa, the thin South Indian rice crepe, and the shahi paneer naanwich.

Fall Colours Return Across Mississauga Parks
The City says mid October through early November is usually the best window to see fall colours in Mississauga. Riverwood, Streetsville Memorial Park, Meadowvale Conservation Area, Rattray Marsh and Jack Darling are among the places it is pointing residents to this season.
Why it matters: If you want one easy fall outing, this is the moment to plan it before the leaves fade.
Natural Ice Rink Volunteers Are Needed
Mississauga is looking for residents to help create and maintain natural ice rinks in neighbourhood parks this winter. Volunteers help flood the ice, clear snow, check conditions and keep the rinks usable through the season. Applications are open until November 15.
Why it matters: More volunteers can mean more free outdoor skating close to home once winter arrives.
Mississauga Advance Polls Set A New Record
More than 44,000 people voted early in Mississauga’s municipal election, setting a new advance poll record for the city. That is up 57 per cent from the 2022 municipal election.
Election Day is Monday, October 26, with voting open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. If you did not vote early, the city says you can still check your voting location, review candidates and bring one piece of ID with your name and Mississauga address.
Why it matters: City hall decisions affect roads, transit, parks, libraries, recreation and how neighbourhoods grow. The early turnout shows more residents are paying attention before the final voting day.
Mississauga Keeps Its AAA Credit Rating
Standard & Poor's has again given Mississauga its AAA credit rating, the highest rating possible. The City says this is the 23rd year in a row it has received the rating.
Why it matters: A top credit rating helps signal that the city is seen as financially stable while it manages growth, services and new responsibilities.
Bloor Street Redesign Is Still On Hold
Mississauga’s $27 million Bloor Street redesign is still paused while the city waits for direction under Ontario’s bike lane rules. The plan covers Bloor Street from Central Parkway East to Etobicoke Creek and includes road work, wider sidewalks, lighting upgrades, transit stop changes and cycling space.
Residents and cycling advocates remain split over whether the road should lose two vehicle lanes. The delay matters now because about $1.4 million has already been spent on planning and design, and local candidates are being pressed for clearer answers before election day.
Why it matters: Bloor Street is a major east Mississauga route, so the final design could affect traffic, walking, cycling, transit stops and nearby homes for years.

The goal is simple: make it easier to know what's happening around Mississauga and prove our city is more interesting than people think.
