Easy Plan This Week

Keep this one simple: take a short waterfront walk around Port Credit Memorial Park and the harbour, then stop at Scoops Ice Cream on Lakeshore.

Scoops is close to the water and makes its ice cream in-house, with cones, sundaes, splits, dipped cones, and dairy-free options.

It works as a quick family stop, a low-pressure date idea, or a short after-dinner walk if you’re already near the Lakeshore.

This Week’s Food Feature

Las Muns

Handmade empanadas at Square One.

📍 Square One

The menu has savoury options like Thai Chicken, Mushrooms Camembert, G.O.A.T with goat cheese and caramelized onions, Margherita, Steak and Eggs, Spicy Beef, and Creamy Spinach. If you want something sweet, look at the Apple Pie or Dulce-Banana.

Good for a quick Food District bite, a mall lunch that feels different, or grabbing a mixed box to share.

Pizza Nostra

📍 362 Lakeshore Rd. W. / 245 Lakeshore Rd. E.

Pizza Nostra is a family-run Port Credit pizza spot with big thin-crust pies and square Sicilian pizzas.

Go for a classic cheese or pepperoni, or look at the Marco Special with pepperoni, oregano, fresh basil, fresh mozzarella, aged mozzarella, and tomato sauce. The vodka pepperoni is another good call if you want something richer and a little spicy.

Good for a casual pizza night, a Port Credit pickup order, or feeding a few people without making dinner complicated.

A Military Artifact Turned Up In A Backyard

Police were called to a home near Elmwood Avenue South and Lakeshore Road East on Saturday after a resident found what police described as a “military artifact” in a family member’s older belongings.

Peel police said an early look suggested it was likely a smoke device, meaning it would produce smoke rather than shrapnel. The explosive disposal unit was called in, nearby residents were asked to shelter in place or evacuate as a precaution, and the item was safely disposed of.

Ninth Line Is Getting A Major Widening

A major road project is moving ahead on Ninth Line between Eglinton Avenue West and Derry Road West.

The City is widening the 6.7 km stretch from two lanes to four, with new sidewalks, cycle tracks, curbs, drainage, lighting, transit-stop upgrades, and intersection improvements also planned.

The work is meant to support future growth in the area, with the project expected to wrap up in late 2027.
